Another Good Week

I have been up here in Moutain View for 3 weeks now. Last week we did some service, but mostly it was full of trying to contact people. I kinda feel like a telemarketer sometimes with all the phone calls we try to make. I especially feel like a telemarketer when we tell people who we are and they immediately hang up on us. With this said, we teach maybe a lesson a day, which means we are blessed considering the way the world is right now. 

One person we taught has a hard time believing that God is there. This person can't see how a God who is merciful could let so many bad things happen in the world. We discussed this and several other topics that were concerning him for a while. What it finally boiled down to is his lack of understanding of the Atonement of Jesus Christ. He does not understand how His sacrifice could make every wrong right. He does not understand how Christ through this event makes his sins be forgiven.

I gave him the only suitable answer I could give. No mortal knows how Christ's Atonement can do all those things. We are finite and have a finite understanding of eternal and infinite things. The how does not matter. Knowing how it works will not save you from yourself. All we can do is understand what happened and why it happened. I know that it did. I know that through Jesus Christ, every injustice will be made right. I know that no crime will go unpunished and no good deed will go unnoticed. I know that if we will repent, be baptized, and then endure to the end, Christ's Atonement will be able to make us into what he wants us to be.
